Dear Destiny,
What are some suggestions that you have for a “Sunday Reset”?
Sincerely,
Overworked
Dear Overworked,
I really resonate with the need for a Sunday reset. As the year is coming to an end, finals season lurks around the corner, which means a lot of work and study. So, whether your plate is filled with schoolwork or extracurriculars, chores or a job, or life just feels busy right now, here’s some great ways to distress on a weekend and have a little you-time.
First, never underestimate how soothing a self-care routine can be. Whether you want a simple 10-minute morning regimen, or an extensive hour-long system, the great thing about doing self-care is that it’s tailored to you! There’s a bunch of options, like trying a new skincare or hair care routine tailored to your needs, or taking a nice bath incorporated with a bath bomb. Trust me, it feels great to focus on you for a little bit.
You can also try incorporating some calming activities into your day, like making some time to just sit outside, read a book, do a crossword, write in a journal, go for a walk, or watch a comfort show. No matter what you do, try to allot that time for your you-time only; even if you can only catch a little bit of the day for yourself, I totally recommend leaving behind anything that stresses you out, and when I can, I even like to make sure my phone is far away from arm’s reach, so I don’t instinctively grab it and open an app. Remember, this is your time to relax and do something calming, so try to set aside your busy life for that moment. It’ll be ready for you when you’re done with your reset!
At the end of the day, your “Sunday Reset” is all yours, so you should tailor it to your needs and what makes you feel relaxed. If being busy and productive makes you feel relaxed, then incorporate a chore or two into your day. If you’d rather treat yourself to a nap, then take it! No matter how you distress, the key to a perfect Sunday Reset is recognizing what you need and making time to do it.
Lots of love,
Destiny
