On Friday 12/1, the Pleasant Valley Vikings and the Miramonte Matadors fought for the title of CIF Division 5-AA Northern CA region champions! It was an exciting and eventful game to attend, and ended up in a Viking Win!
The Matadors were in the lead by the end of the first quarter, at 6-3 with a field-goal by Gavin Garretson from 26 yards being our first score. Pleasant Valley however bounced back quickly and foreshadowed the rest of the game with a touchdown made by Lucas Benson with a 63 yard drive in the start of the second quarter with 9:46 still left on the clock.
Then, the next viking touchdown led by Benson in the second at the 5:54! Thus bringing the score to 6-17 and concluding the first half with vikings ahead.
They start quarter three with Pleasant Valley on offense as Garreston makes nurmerous sacks on the Matadors quarterback Carson Blair. Then, a matador touchdown at 4:44 in the 3rd quarter making the score 12-17 with PV still in the lead!
In the beginning of the fourth quarter, a player on the matadors gets hurt but walks off the field with assistance and seems to have no major injuries. Gameplay continues and vikings make a touchdown with about 12:00 minutes left on the clock! This brings the score to 12-24, until Thomas-Brass makes an amazing touchdown and seals the deal for the vikings making the score 12-31! Tydus Andrus makes a play and brings the vikings to fourth down. The clock runs out and PV makes an amazing win!
Jason Myer from CAF came to present the award, and congratulated the runners up. Coach Jack and the Miramonte Matadors. Then, he presents the plaque to Coach Cooley and the Pleasant Valley varsity football team!
Up next, the vikings will face the Riverside Ramonas (the southern california champions), to hopefully win state!
