Every year, Prom is the dance many upperclassmen look forward to for months before the theme is even announced. With the longest presale line Prom has had in years, it’s clear everyone was excited for the last dance of the year.
Farah Jean Jacques, a senior at Pleasant Valley, said that her “favorite part of the day of prom is getting ready”, and that she loves “dressing up … doing her hair and makeup”, and of course seeing all her friends “in their prom dresses or suits”. She remembers everyone being happy and “having a good time at dinner”, which makes “a great atmosphere”. As for the dance itself, she liked seeing all the people “dancing with their friends and partners” and “having that moment with everyone”.
Rae Coombs, who also attended the Prom last year, said that her favorite part of the day was getting ready, and the great energy “allows her to spend quality time with her mom”, which she notes “always means a lot … to parents, when they can do their child’s hair and makeup”. When asked what she liked most about this prom, she said that her favorite dance was definitely this year’s prom, because she “felt more comfortable” and could be herself “without worrying about what everyone thought”. All in all, Rae said that everything about it was perfect.
Katherine Garcia, known best as Tye by her friends, said that this year’s venue was different in a lot of ways; one was that it “felt way more open which made it more comfortable” even though there were a lot of people there. She enjoyed how large the venue was, and “how it actually felt like it was meant to hold a prom rather than the last place”. She also liked the new variety in snacks. She also loved the choice in songs, and how they felt right for the age group, because it got a lot of people dancing.
One of the only disappointments that many attendants had was in regards to the theme; for example, all three of the people interviewed said that they voted for the alternative, a Princess and the Frog theme. Although the Princess and the Frog theme would have gone well with last year’s Tangled theme, ultimately Student Government went with the Meet Me at Midnight theme, featuring disco balls, blue and silver motifs, and elegant drapes.
Ultimately, it’s clear that the 2025 Prom was a success, and a night to go down in Pleasant Valley history.
