“It got me sick, and it was not very enjoyable.” -Leah Calvillo, grade 9 (Lucy Vo)“I think the cause is good, but not a lot of people focus on the mental health awareness side of it. It’s a good idea, but more people need to understand the cause and say stuff about it.” -Alyssa Smith, grade 9“It’s pretty chill. I got nominated, and I was super nonchalant while I did it.” -Kiki Vierra, grade 9“I thought it was really fun besides the fact my experience was made up of mostly ice and water. I thought it was really sweet how the challenge was made to spread mental health awareness, and I hope the school that is trying to raise money makes a difference.” -Elizabeth Ferguson, grade 9“It’s a good, fun challenge. There’s a meaning behind it that makes it much better because you’re not doing it just for fun, you’re doing it to spread the meaning.” -Marlen Diaz, grade 9“I think the cause is good because it’s bringing attention to mental health, but I feel that a lot of people aren’t acknowledging that and doing it for the trend. I also think in a way it can be a bit hypocritical because what if you don’t get picked and then your mental health declines instead.” -Nola Davis, grade 10“I honestly found it kind of stupid. It’s either funny or you make people mad by making them do it. People either carry it on or don’t do it all.” -Cadence Betge, grade 9“I liked the idea of it. I don’t know if an ice bucket was the way to do it, but it’s fun with friends.” -Maddie Aisthorpe, grade 9“I think it is a cool trend, and I love how some people I know went out of their comfort zone to nominate people they may not know very well.” & “I think it was a very good challenge; especially when they did it last time in 2024, and I think it’s something good to bring awareness too.”
Lucy Vo is enjoying her first year at PVHS as a freshman. She gives all of the opportunities given to her a try, and joining The Saga was one of them. Lucy loves to draw, and majoring in art to soon become a 2D animation artist is one of her many dreams that’s sure to come true. Although she doesn’t write often, she knows that practice makes perfection!
