The 53rd annual Almond Bowl is around the corner, and the Pleasant Valley Varsity Football team has been training very hard. Mark Cooley, the football coach, has them do weightlifting drills after the 7th or 8th period and training from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Students and the community are excited to watch this traditional showdown between the two rivals coming on October 18th, 2024. This week, Mr. Cooley stated that, “We have to start fast and finish strong and hit people really, really hard.” After the Vikings suffered a terrible loss to the Panthers via shutout (0-35), the Vikings are determined to win this year’s Almond Bowl.
Pleasant Valley High school’s Varsity Football team is working hard to bring the gold medal home for Pleasant valley high school. James Martin, the wide receiver and cornerback, explained what PV’s main objective was. “We need to just put in the work and practice pushing each other past our limits.” Tylend Broadway, the offensive and defensive line, stated what the teams biggest strengths were and how they could implement them into gameplay, “Our biggest strength that we can implement on the field is our team chemistry.”
Overall, PV’s main objective is to improve on their weak areas and use their strong areas to win the game. They are clearly working hard and their Viking Family wishes them the best of luck! Go Vikings!
